About Us
Founded in 2005, ONE Singapore is a locally registered charity dedicated to raising public awareness and taking concrete actions to Make Poverty History. We envision a just world where no one lives in poverty,whether it be overseas or here at home in Singapore.

Mrinalini Venkatachalam
—President
Mrinalini was elected President of ONE Singapore in 2023, and re-elected in 2024, after serving on its Executive Committee since 2015. She is the regional director of a global non-profit organisation promoting female entrepreneurship and has been recognised by Singapore Women's Weekly and Cleo Singapore as a top changemaker and one of the ‘Great Women of Our Time’.
Michele Yap
—Treasurer
Michele has been volunteering with ONE Singapore and serving as an Executive Committee member since 2011 and one of the charity’s officers since 2012. She was elected Treasurer at the 2024 AGM. When she’s not volunteering or spending time with her kids, Michele runs another non-profit organisation in Singapore. She also provides image, etiquette and communications training.
Elaine Lim
—Secretary
Elaine joined the Exco in 2022, served as Treasurer in 2023 and was elected Secretary in 2024. She is a qualified financial professional with a passion for giving back to the community. She is committed to leveraging her skills and knowledge to support ONE Singapore’s mission and maximise its impact. Outside of work, Elaine is a fitness enthusiast, enjoys spending time with her kids and trying new recipes.
After serving as ONE Singapore's President for 9 years, Nichol continues to serve on the charity’s Executive Committee as President Emeritus. Nichol is the co-founder of The Food Bank Singapore and the Group CEO of X-Inc, a family business that she has successfully modernised and re-branded as a market leader in the food service industry. She is an award-winning leader in both the non-profit and business sectors.

Michael Switow
—Founder
Michael is an anti-poverty campaigner, writer, producer and editor. He is a founder of ONE Singapore and has served two terms on the Global Council of the Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP) - the world’s largest anti-poverty coalition. He is the co-author of two groundbreaking business leadership books, a former US Peace Corps volunteer, a public speaker and the head of an editorial consultancy and publishing company.
Anu Agarwal
—Member
Anu was elected as an Executive Committee member of ONE Singapore at the 2019 Annual General Meeting. She works at Argus Media, heading the company’s Asia-Pacific editorial team. Anu has been involved for many years with NGOs based in India that provide education to children living in urban slums, vocational training to marginalized women, basic needs for impoverished families as well as rural lighting for those without electricity.
Poised, confident and sometimes goofy, Cynthia is an actress, host and voiceover talent. “I don’t want to just support ONE Singapore. I want to be a part of it. Yes, I stand by my childlike idealism!” Cynthia is a huge supporter of the SPCA. She joined our Executive Committee in 2012, and in the following year, she successfully oversaw our gala dinner, The ONE Ball 2013. What a legendary night!

Sunil Nihalani

Sunil is a finance professional with over 20 years of experience in the consumer goods and supply chain industry. Looking to make a difference beyond the corporate world, Sunil began volunteering with ONE Singapore in 2021. He was elected to ONE Singapore's Executive Committee in 2022.
