YOU can make a difference.

There are unfortunately far too many people in Singapore who do not have enough to eat. Please join ONE (SINGAPORE) and Class 95FM for our first annual Food Drive! The proceeds will benefit two great charities that are helping our neighbours-in-need every day:

The Food Bank Singapore is a place where you can “deposit” food so that it will be distributed to people in need. Set up earlier this year by two food industry professionals – siblings Nicholas and Nichol Ng – the food bank matches your donations with homes for the aged, soup kitchens and other charities.

Plus, your favourite DJs will be on-site to welcome and thank you for your contribution!

How You Can Help

  1. It’s simple.  Just bring your in-kind donations to the Singapore Food Bank on Saturday 17 November.  We accept both bulk items (which are great for use by the soup kitchen) as well as smaller items that are better for individual use. However, avoid bringing any fresh food and perishables.  The food bank is located at the FoodXervices’ warehouse inside the Tanjong Pager Distripark, across from the old Malayan Railway Station.
  2. Start a collection in your company, school, church, temple, mosque, neighbourhood . . . then bring the items down together down to the Food Bank on the 17th.
  3. Make a financial donation.

The ONE Ball . . . Making a Difference

“‘The ONE Ball . . . Making a Difference’ is a key event for ONE (SINGAPORE),” explains the society’s president, Vernetta Lopez, “because it will enable us to professionalise our organisation and put us on the path towards having a home.”

“We’ve accomplished a lot with very limited resources,” says ONE (SINGAPORE) co-founder Michael Switow. “But it’s not sustainable to rely entirely on volunteers and the goodwill of others.”

ONE (SINGAPORE) took a first step towards creating a professional secretariat, when it hired a full-time staff member in 2011. Now, the organisation aims to have sufficient resources to maintain a support team of two to three people, as well as an office to base its operations.

“‘The ONE Ball Making a Difference’ will become an annual event, both to finance ONE (SINGAPORE), but also to remind our supporters of the ways in which each and every one of us can contribute to the community and make a difference in people’s lives,” says ONE (SINGAPORE) Executive Committee member Nichol Ng.

Tickets for the event are on sale for S$250 per person or S$2500 per table. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. For more information, please contact Nichol Ng at nichol@onesingapore.org.
